Iris ensata 'Variegata'
Deciduous clumping perennial iris with long narrow foliage variegated gray/green foliage with clear white stripes to around 24-30" tall that produces beautiful 4" dark purple flowers above the foliage to around 40" tall in late spring. Plant does well near water features or moist soil. Does not like to dry out nor be totally submerged in water. Makes a good cut flower. Forms large clumps in time. Good planted en masse. Cut foliage back in winter to just a few inches above the crowns. USDA zones 5-9 in cold hardiness.
