Helleborus x ballardiae 'Mahogany Snow' PPAF
Compact hybrid with leathery dark green foliage and red stems producing a mass of 1" white flowers with a pink reverse of on multi-branched stems November through Feb. The flowers eventually age to dark pink. The clump reaches about 12" tall and 20" wide when established. Like all Hellebores, plant in generously amended soil heavy in organic matter and planting mix. Give good drainage and average water. Prefers light shade to morning sun. It is more sun tolerant where summers are cooler as in the mountains and northern climates. Lime the soil at least once a year where pH runs consistently below 6.5. Deer resistant. USDA zones 5-9 in cold hardiness.
