Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'Firewitch'
Evergreen flowering perennial groundcover forming a dense gray mat of foliage to 2-3' wide in time. Deep rose red fragrant flowers cover the plant in mid-spring. Intermittent bloom summer through fall. Fragrance resembles carnations--spicy and sweet. Makes a good cut flower. Plant in full sun. Give good drainage and average to light water. Does not tolerate wet spots. Deer resistant. USDA zones 4-9 in cold hardiness. Perennial of the year in 2006.
