Punica granatum 'Grenada'

Deciduous flowering shrub producing large red traditional pomegranate fruit in late summer/fall. A bud sport of 'Wonderful', it is deeper red, sweeter, and ripens a full month earlier. Self Fertile. Grows to around 10' tall and wide. Plant in full sun. Give good drainage and average water. Few pests. Deer resistant. Loves heat but tolerates cold. Best to throw a blanket over it the first few years if nights dip into the teens or single digits. USDA zones 7b-11 in cold hardiness.
