Callicarpa acuminata

Evergreen (deciduous zones 7 and 8) flowering shrub to 5' in 1 season and 15' if growing in a mild zone 9-10 climate. Extremely large clusters of shiny purple berries are produced in fall and remain on the plant until the first hard freeze. The leaves and fruit are much bigger than the common beauty berry. We have found this strain does not reseed in our garden, perhaps because it has no counterpart and is reproduced via cuttings from the same plant. In zones 7 and 8 it will freeze to the ground but come back faithfully every spring. It has survived 9F with relative ease. Plant in full sun. Give good drainage and average water. Easy to grow. Few pests. Deer resistant. USDA zones 7-10 in cold hardiness.
