Camellia sasanqua 'Plantation Pink'

Evergreen flowering shrub to around 10' tall or more and 6' wide producing a profusion of 3" single pink flowers in the fall with petals that are "pinched" at their base giving a bow tie effect. One of the most beautiful flowers of "sun" Camellias on the market. Selected and named by Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC. Home of the oldest Camellia garden in the U.S. Widely used as a screen or background planting. Plant in full sun to part shade. Give good drainage and average water. Fertilize with slow release or cottonseed meal in March and again in late summer (1/2 as much). Prune to shape after bloom is finished but before the spring flush occurs (approximately March). Easy to grow. Watch for scale insects. USDA zones 7-10 in cold hardiness.
